In 2005, I set out with the idea that new homes should be exactly that – homes, not houses. The intent was to create places that were warm, comfortable and personal. Additionally, I wanted to include the luxuries and conveniences we all associate with well-appointed homes, but I wanted to do it in smaller homes that were more conducive to daily life. Little did I know at the time, the types of homes I wanted to build would soon come to be commonly known as “Jewel Box Homes”.
To that end, I began to build what I think is the ultimate in Jewel Box Homes: Craftsman style homes that were less than 2300 square feet. B. Wallace Design & Construction has since grown into building various sizes, styles and types of homes, but I remain committed to combining all the charm and quality of historic homes with the modern conveniences today’s buyers deserve.
I believe that everyone deserves a non-generic, sustainable home that is easy to live in, easy to maintain and easy to love. That’s why B. Wallace homes feature efficient, flexible floor plans and are built with durable, low-maintenance materials that don’t sacrifice authenticity.
I also believe that everyone’s home, regardless of size or price, should reflect their individual style and character. That’s why B. Wallace homes emphasize small details like custom trim, personalized paint colors and fixtures, luxurious tile bathrooms and flexible buyer options.

Process Info
Building a home, particularly with B. Wallace Design, is not as difficult as you might believe.
B. Wallace works one-on-one with each and every homeowner to guide them through the process – from finding the right community and floor plan to helping to select the last cabinet knob – to be sure that the finished home reflects as much individual style and character as its new owner!
In addition to several personal consultations, we use online project management software to help guide you through the selection process for all your colors, fixtures and special features.
The best part of the B. Wallace experience is that while you get input into all the parts of your home that will give it that special style, you can leave the details to us! Your life is hectic enough, so it’s nice to know that B. Wallace is keeping an eye on those little details that will make your new home great.
We would love to meet with you and provide more information about how we will build you the home that is just right for you. After all, that should be what having a new home is all about.

Warranty Info
All of our homes come with a two-tier warranty system. While we strive to build the very best home possible, it is sometimes necessary to come back after closing and correct minor flaws in your home.
To insure your complete satisfaction, we offer a one-year builder warranty program that guarantees all the workmanship in your new home for the first year. That is, if something is not right with your home, we will fix it. At the end of the first year we will address and correct all defects on your one-year warranty list.
The second-tier to our warranty program is an extended warranty provided through an independent warranty company. This warranty is provided at no additional cost with every B. Wallace home and covers any major structural problems with your home.
About Britney
Britney Wallace is a native of the Durham/Chapel Hill area. She graduated from UNC-CH with a degree in Computer Science, but quickly learned that the day-to-day routine of working behind a desk was not her best fit. The daughter of a sculptor (her mother) and land developer (her father), Britney found home building to be a happy combination of those two worlds, and she hasn’t looked back.
Over the years, B. Wallace has built a team of loyal and trusted contractors and associates. Many of these people have been by Britney’s side since the beginning, and without them, B. Wallace certainly would not be what it is today.
Since the first home in the summer of 2005, Britney and her team have treasured the opportunity to build people’s homes and are committed to quality construction and customer satisfaction.
